Pearl Oyster Tracker ("Pearl", "we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service").
We collect information you provide directly: your email address and password when you create an account, your display name and profile photo, oyster log entries including restaurant names, oyster names, ratings, photos, and tasting notes, and interactions with other users such as likes, comments, and friend connections. We also collect usage data automatically, including device type, operating system, and general usage patterns to improve the Service.
We use your information to provide, maintain, and improve the Service, to enable social features like sharing oyster logs with friends, to send you account-related communications, and to respond to support requests. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Your data is stored securely using Supabase, which provides enterprise-grade security with row-level security policies. Photos are stored in secure cloud storage. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit and at rest.
Your oyster log and profile information are visible only to users you have approved as friends on Pearl. We do not share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We may share information if required by law or to protect our rights.
You can access, update, or delete your personal information at any time through the app settings. You can delete your entire account and all associated data permanently from Settings → Delete Account. Upon account deletion, all your data — including oyster logs, photos, comments, and profile information — is permanently removed.
Pearl requests camera and photo library access solely to allow you to photograph and upload images of oysters to your log. Photos you upload are stored securely and shared only with your approved friends on Pearl. We do not access your photos for any other purpose.
Pearl is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
